Paul William Bartsch, Sr.

Paul W. Bartsch, Sr., 76, died Friday at his home, 3115 W. 10th St., Topeka, KS. He had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage Thursday.

He was born May 13, 1891 at Aolieata, Russia, and had lived in the United States since 1893. He lived at Newton, KS before he moved to Topeka in 1943.

He was president of Midland Mutual Fire Insurance Company at Newton until 1943, and was associated with Alliance Cooperative Insurance Company in Topeka until 1951. He later was employed by the State Insurance Dept. until he retired in 1962.

He was a member of First Methodist Church in Topeka, and was past president of the Kansas Association of Mutual Insurance Companies. He was past president of the Newton Community Concert Association, and was a member and served on the board of the Topeka Community Concert Association.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Esther Bartsch, at home; a daughter, Barbara Bartsch, at home; two sons, Paul W. Bartsch, Jr., Kansas City, MO, and John T. Bartsch, Hutchinson, KS; and 11 grandchildren.

Services will be held Monday at First Mennonite Church at Newton, KS. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery at Newton. Peterson Funeral Home at Newton is in charge of arrangements. Penwell-Gable Funeral Home is in charge of Topeka arrangements.
