Donald Dean Deckert

October 5, 1947 - January 13, 2022




Don Deckert, 74, was called home to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.


Born and raised in Newton, KS, Don attended high school at Berean Academy and received a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Wichita State University. Don, a wonderful husband, father, papa and friend to all of those around him will truly be missed. He loved telling stories, had a great sense of humor, and easily made long-lasting friendships, which he cherished. He was an avid golfer, hunter, craftsman and had a passion for custom knives. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family.

Don was a retired Wichita Police Lieutenant, retired insurance claims adjuster with Farm Bureau, and investigator for DeVaughn James.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Ruth Deckert.

He is survived by his wife, Angie; daughter, Kristin (Roger) Miller; son, Travis (Melissa); sister, Donna (Jerry) Holiday; brother, Dwight (Barb); grandchildren, Precious, Nyla, and Taylee Deckert.

Memorials have been established with: Mayo Clinic Hope Lodge, 411 2nd St. NW, Rochester, MN 55901; and Wichita Police Benefit Fund, P.O. Box 47690, Wichita, KS 67201.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, January 28, 2022, at NewSpring Church, Wichita, KS.
